This was the question facing Honda’s Engineers in developing the New Civic. And so they embarked on their greatest journey ever. Testing, researching, refining, redesigning, retesting. Four years later and the result is here, waiting for you to test drive. Creating a car that was smooth and quiet on the road was a key priority and every element of the Civic’s development was aimed at creating a refined drive. The range of engines now includes the new 1.6 i-DTEC diesel which offers exceptional power matched to the Band A2 emissions tax rating. It is the first engine in our 'Earth Dreams Technology' series which aim to offer class-leading levels of CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. In the New Civic 1.6 i-DTEC, CO2 is reduced to 94g/km while fuel consumption is 3.6l/100km, that's over 78mpg.

Inside the New Civic is a cabin that has been designed around you, the driver.   Magic Seats

  The new Civic's innovative 'Magic Seats' fold in a wide range of configurations, cleverly allowing you to create space that arranges around you.
  In one simple motion the seats lift up or fold over, locking easily into place. They also split 60:40, creating multiple combinations that can easily accommodate tall loads, long loads, or a mix of both. And with the rear seats lying flat, the boot space opens up to a generous 1,210 litres*. So, whatever life may throw your way, the new Civic is ready to take it all on the journey with you

  Enhanced Design

  There are no shortcuts in designing a car that feels great to drive, no matter how long the journey is. From the sculpted headlights to the rear spoiler, every feature on the Civic has been developed to optimise air-flow. The introduction of an innovative new suspension system assists further by creating a balance between comfort and handling.
  Our engineers spent time reshaping and remodelling the Civic's cockpit so that the dashboard is centred around the driver, positioning essential information directly in front of you.   Performance

  At Honda, we take our engine testing seriously, running an engine at full power for days on end, cooling and heating it, again and again and again. Then we take it all apart and check it down to the very last component. The results speak for themselves. Our i-VTEC petrol engines and i-DTEC diesel engines are designed to deliver outstanding fuel economy, exhilarating performance and cleaner emissions.

  The All-New 1.6 i-DTEC diesel is now in Dealerships, it offers strong power matched to low emissions with 120 PS available, yet with class-leading Tax band A2 emissions of 94g/km and fuel economy of over 78 mpg. The 2.2 i-DTEC diesel delivers 150 PS while still managing to sit in Tax Band A3 and deliver fuel economy of 67.3 mpg. While 1.4 i-VTEC and 1.8 i-VTEC petrol models round out the Civic engine range.

  All engines feature a 6 speed manual transmission, with the option of an automatic on the 1.8 i-VTEC, while all manuals feature a shift indicator that informs you of the best time to change gear in order to maximise fuel economy

  Fuel Efficiency

  Our engineers spent many hours testing and experimenting with the new Civic's high mounted rear wing to minimise drag and improve fuel efficiency. Fuel economy was further improved by integrating Honda's innovative Idle Stop and Eco Assist systems.
  Both the 1.6 and 2.2 i-DTEC diesel models feature an innovative front grille that automatically adjusts when you're driving. When you reach higher speeds it closes tighter to reduce air resistance, improving fuel economy still further.

  Fuel economy was key in developing the New Civic and 1.6 i-DTEC represents the first in Honda's new 'Earth Dreams Technology' series. The new engine is the lightest and most advanced of its type in the World. In Civic, it produces just 94g/km of CO2 and uses just 3.6 litres of fuel per 100km driven, that's equivalent to over 78mpg.

  Eco Assist

  While all Civic models are engineered to offer the perfect balance between driving pleasure and efficiency, wouldn't it also be helpful if the car could show you how to drive more efficiently? How to gain the maximum from your Civic? With our advanced Eco Assist system, the Civic does just that. Subtle lighting around the speedometer glows from green to blue, depending on your driving style. Smooth, consistent driving styles result in green lighting, while harder acceleration while result in blue. It's been shown to reduce fuel consumption by up to 15% and is standard on all new Civics. In addition, it is matched to our ECON mode, which softens the throttle response and optimises features such as climate control for maximum efficiency. Simple, yet advanced technology, making green driving even easier.

  Advanced Safety

  We are committed to building the very best safety features into every Civic, starting with the shell. Our Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure absorbs and deflects impact away from you and your passengers, keeping everyone protected.
