Honda put focus on Active Safety for 161
Honda are expanding their Active Safety technology for 161, with City-Brake Active System now standard on all new Honda models.
Specifically designed to help avoid or mitigate low speed accidents, City-Brake Active system is a laser radar system that scans the road ahead, automatically applying the brakes if an imminent risk of collision is detected.
The system operates at low speeds (5 - 32km/h), and when a risk of collision is detected it will offer visual and audible warnings. If the system identifies that the risk of collision exists then pre-braking will occur, followed by full autonomous braking.
All Honda models now feature a 5 Star Euro NCAP safety rating, including the new HR-V and Jazz, which were awarded the 5 Star rating under the much more stringent 2015 testing system. The Honda Jazz is only the second supermini model to achieve the top 5 star rating under the new tests.
In addition to City-brake Active System being fitted to all models as standard, Honda are also increasing the fitment of many of their other advanced active safety features, in the form of the Honda Dynamic Safety Pack, and the advanced Honda Sensing Pack.
The Honda Dynamic Safety Pack is now fitted as standard to selected models of the Jazz, HR-V and CR-V Ranges, and features advanced active safety technology such as Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, High-beam Support System and Traffic Sign Recognition.
Completing the Honda Active Safety suite of technologies, selected CR-V models are also available with the option of Honda Sensing. Representing Honda’s most advanced active safety technologies, the pack includes Collision Mitigation Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keep Assist and intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control.
Emmet Kavanagh, Marketing Manager at Universal Honda Ltd. commented, "Honda are very proud to once again be taking a lead in fitting important safety equipment as standard across our full Irish range.
"Honda were one of the first brands to make Vehicle Stability Control standard across our range a number of years ago, and once again we are showing our commitment to advanced safety features by making another important and potentially life-saving new safety feature standard across our new range in the form of the City Brake Active System."
